1.) Respect all players and treat them as you would like to be treated. Respect is the golden rule on Effervescence, and rude mannerisms will not be tolerated. While IC name-calling and taunts are allowed to an extent, we will never allow this to happen in the OOC setting. You will be given one very strict warning, and if we see it happen again, we will be forced to give you a suspension.
2.) We do not allow sites such as imgur, tinypic, and photobucket to be used as a third party host, as we do not want to run into unnecessary trouble with these websites. They have changed their policy, and no longer allow third-party hosting.
3.) Do not powerplay, godmod, etc. This is annoying for the other person and can also be annoying for you. If staff ever catches you doing these things, we will politely warn you about it. If someone is ever doing one of these things to you while roleplaying, you may pm a staff member, continue with the thread and ignore it, or play along with the powerplaying, godmodding, etc. and ask the other person not to do it again. The only time powerplaying is acceptable is if the other roleplayer has given specific permission to allow it.
4.) Please do not act as if your character has an ability they do not own. Abilities are
earned through achievements and shop items; all characters join power-less. Also, do not act as if your earned ability is stronger than it is. All abilities should be roleplayed "realistically." For example, if my character possessed telekinesis, my character should not be able to uproot a one-ton tree.
5.) This is an intermediate to advanced roleplaying site, meaning grammar and longer posts are highly common. However, the word limit is 100 words within roleplaying boards. If you are ever struggling to reach this word limit, try adding more detail to your surroundings or explain things a little more.
5 ½.) Just because this site is an intermediate+ roleplaying site does not mean we do not accept beginners. Beginners are always welcome, just be aware of the word count limit and the descriptiveness of your posts.
6.) Excessive swearing will not be tolerated. No rude language should be directed towards another roleplayer, nor character within a thread. Light swearing words may be used, but once again, excessive swearing is never allowed anywhere on the site. As well as this, please keep everything on the site rated between the ages of 13 and 16. Nothing rated R should ever be seen on this site; however, we do allow some things that may trigger some audiences. Please, whenever adding something slightly graphic to your threads, such as gory wounds, indicate in the title "trigger warning."
7.) The world of Vescentia is an entire
planet, please do not treat it like a walk in your backyard. Though liquid time is allowed, do not jump your character from land to land without a travel-time. It may take three weeks or even four for a character to get from the Arctic to the temperate provinces, and certainly not a day for your character to travel the whole world. Please keep it a bit realistic. This being said, there are fast ways to travel across the land, located in
public transportation.
8.) Do not share personal information on this site, ever. This is for your own safety and includes personal messaging. Things such as real name, address, city, school, and phone number should be kept personal.
9.) If you ever wish to recycle or delete your character, please pm a staff member before you do so. Deleted or revamped character's applications will be removed and all items will be wiped. Please consider all the consequences before revamping or removing a character.
10.) Please keep it one character per account. If you wish to create a new character, please create a new account for that character. You are allowed an OOC account, as these are recommended, but not necessary. OOC accounts help keep your characters organised, and help the staff know which characters are yours.
11.) Characters are only allowed one companion per account unless they have unlocked the second companion through the shop. These companions may look however you'd like them to as long as they are 1/3rd of your character's height. As well as this, all lands are available to roam through except for the ethereal island, which must be unlocked by following the
correlating guide.
12.) A monarch must be allowed two weeks of peace after ascending to the throne before they are allowed challenges for the throne. Any challenge that occurs before those two weeks are up can be ignored, for they are not valid.
13.) If you are unhappy with your character's appearance after they are accepted, you may change its appearance in a certain time frame. This time frame ends when you have begun your second thread with this character. After your second thread has begun, your character's appearance is set in stone and may not be changed unless you purchase the remake item from the shop.
14.) All character ages should be recorded in human years. The average life expectancy in Vescentia is 100 years old. Characters beyond this age must have the immortality item from the shop, only then can they live beyond 100 years.
14 ½.) If your character was immortal on a previous site, they are allowed immortality in Vescentia as well. HOWEVER, you must have proof of immortality.
15.) Effervescence is a fantasy animal rpg, which means there is an unlimited number of species from different provinces you can choose from to roleplay as, and there is no limit to their appearance. These animals live untouched by the influence of humankind, for the land was strictly created for animals and animals alone. These lands, though you must still follow their general climate and biome, can look however you choose them to as you roleplay.
16.) After creating a character, it is highly encouraged that you go to
biographies and create your character an easily axcessable area to view their apperance, personality, likes and dislikes, etc. This is optional but please do not disregard it. One thread per roleplayer.
17.) Please, in each of your threads, make sure to add either a letter in the title or the word in the thread description for the status of your thread, and make sure to update it. (w) for working on it/in progress, (c) for completed, (d) for dead. This will help me when going through threads to archive. To further specify your threads, you can also add (o) for open and (p) for private.
The rules may be updated, so please check back often to keep your brain fresh and/or look for new rules.
