ᴛʜᴇ ʙᴀᴛᴛʟᴇ ɢᴜɪᴅᴇ Though the world of Vescentia is a fairly peaceful place, battles are bound to break out at some point. These battles can be over anything from dominance to theft. Also note that carnivores and herbivores live together, and battles may break out between a predator and its prey. So before we begin explaining how to battle, we must place a few rules to keep battles fair. 1.) Each character is limited with both a dodge and attack count. Each character is allowed two full dodges (each is worth one point), which means completely evading the attack, and two partial dodges (each is worth half a point), which means only slightly evading the attack. In total, dodges should be recorded as 3 dodges. A character is allowed 5 attacks.
2.) Battles can take place anywhere, at any given moment for any justifiable reason. As well as this, battles should be 1 versus 1. No battles should occur where there is ganging up against another character.
3.) The OOC agreement must be filled out and added to the bottom of your beginning battle post. They cannot be edited after the battle has begun, and must be agreed upon by both players.
4.) Characters have a week to respond to each battle post, to keep things going. Keep in mind, if a character fails to meet the standard time curfew, the battle will default victory to the other character.
5.) Posts should not be edited after they are posted in a battle. If they are edited, this will take points off of your overall score. One point for each edited post.
6.) Use common sense in and out of the battle. Firstly, your character is not all-powerful, meaning they get tired as well as cannot fight forever. Secondly, do not agree to a battle before a scheduled absence where you cannot post.
7.) Battles will end once all attacks are used by each character OR when one character fails to respond to the battle thread in time.
Now, there are two ways to judge a battle. The first way is rolling with dice. Dodges, attacks, and defences have to be rolled upon with a six-sided die to determine if the defence/attack is valid or not. If the die lands on 3 or below, the attack/ defence is invalid. If it lands on 4 or above, it is valid. Another way to judge a battle is through a rubric, and staff will judge it for you. Staff will read through your posts and judge based on certain things within your post, and then give you points based on those certain things. Whoever earns the most points, wins. To gain the highest amount of points possible, follow the rubric below. These can be judged by any amount of staff you wish to judge it. Just note that more staff takes more time. ᴛʜᴇ ʀᴜʙʀɪᴄ RoleplayingHow realistic are your posts? Does your character take the appropriate actions or defences for each attack/ defence? Are your character’s fighting skills accurate for his/her size/height/weight/etc.? Magic ( optional )Does your character follow the laid guidelines for his/her ability? Is the ability played realistically? Do they stick to the appropriate amount of magic agreed upon oocly? TechniqueAre attacks and dodges used? Are they realistic and do they hit their mark? Is powerplaying, godmodding, or metaplaying used? CreativityAre the posts creative? Did the roleplayer detail surroundings and go beyond the usual ‘twig’ and ‘leaf’? Did they think further than a normal pounce or scratch? DesirabilityAre the posts engaging, enjoyable, easy to read, and desirable to reread? Does the player go beyond the battle to make the experience interesting? Does it make other players want to roleplay with your character? Are the quality of your posts high? Total: 20-25 points ᴛʜᴇ ᴏᴏᴄ ᴀɢʀᴇᴇᴍᴇɴᴛ All battles, before they start, must be agreed upon by both characters. These agreements are called OOC agreements and are added to the bottom of each post at the beginning of the battle. They only need to be added to one post, and only at the beginning. Below is the OOC agreement code. All parts of it must be filled out and agreed upon. [div align="center"]ᴏᴏᴄ ᴀɢʀᴇᴇᴍᴇɴᴛ[/div]
Magic: is magic permitted in this battle? (yes/no) Battle Type: what type of match is it? (death, challenge, etc.) Extra items: is your character dueling with add-on items? (cupcake, milk, etc.) Judging: how would you like the battle judged? (dice/staff, how many staff?)
Once you agree with the above statements, you cannot change your mind afterwards. Both players must agree with the terms.
